It seems like everyone wants to be a new baby a blanket as part of their “welcome to the world” gift. It’s no wonder, because baby blankets are used for a wide variety of reasons for any new baby. A blanket as a gift is a wonderful idea, because they can be used for the nursery, traveling, playing and as a security item for the baby.
Most babies have several blankets in their nursery, of several different sizes. There are the standard size that will cover the baby up, but also very popular are the small square blankets that babies eventually use to carry around. Parents use the bigger blankets to obviously keep the baby warm, but also as a barrier from the floor when laying the infant down on the floor, couch, or pretty much anywhere. Nursery blankets are also very good when traveling, most parents don’t want to put their new baby on too many places that are touched by the general public, so a nice, nursery blanket is a great cover to put the baby on. They can be used in the stroller, car seat, shopping carts, park benches or pretty much anywhere the parents take the baby.
A nursery blanket is a great idea for a gift for any new baby, and if the parents have determined a theme for the nursery, a matching blanket for that theme can usually be found. A popular theme for little girls is “little lambs”. There are several online stores that sell really cute, lamb themed, baby girl blankets, along with cute, cuddly lambs to match. Many times these little blankets or stuffed lambs will become a “lovey” or special item that the baby carries around for security.
No matter which type of nursery blanket you end up choosing, it is bound to be loved by both parents and baby alike.
