Although it can be a symptom of another health condition, eczema is generally its own issue. In most cases, it can be a constant annoyance and discomfort. Often, it makes the sufferer very insecure about their appearance. In few cases, it can be a serious issue that affects overall health. When it is combined with another health concern, eczema can become a critical issue that needs to be addressed immediately.
Scientists are still studying what causes eczema, but there is no doubt about what makes the condition worse. Obviously, well recognized illnesses can be a problem. Diabetes, cancer, blood disorders, autoimmune problems, and other serious ailments can greatly complicate your eczema. They can make the flare up more severe and spread over more of your body. They can increase the chance of a secondary infection and slow down healing and results in scars. However, any issue which lowers your immune system and body functions can also complicate eczema. Drinking, obesity, drug use, and smoking can easily negatively impact your eczema.
Having a reaction to your eczema remedy can make a bad situation worse. If there is an ingredient in your treatment that you are allergic to, it can not only increase your eczema but may cause more serious problems like asthma or anaphylactic shock. However, if there is another health concern at the same time, the results can be even worse.
For example, having a reaction to your facial eczema treatment can cause swelling of your eyelids, lips, and even into your mouth and down your throat. This can be very serious. However, if you have diabetes then it can cause glaucoma in your eyes. If your eyelids swell from a treatment reaction, it can put additional pressure on your eyes and permanently hinder your vision. Or, if you are already suffering from a breathing or lung problem, an asthmatic reaction to a treatment can put you in danger rather quickly.
If you are suffering from eczema and you have an additional health concern, it is time to take your condition seriously. You may want to see a doctor or other skin care professional. Your focus should be to improve and maintain your health so that your eczema does not become a serious or perilous problem.
