There’s no doubt that the finest cubic zirconia rings are now of such a high quality that it can be hard to tell them apart from the real thing. Having said that many people still make mistakes with their purchase which make it easy for someone to tell they are wearinga n imitation. What can you do to ensure that you buy a ring that will pass for the real thing?
1. Choose a gemstone weight that is near the weight of a diamond ring you could possibly afford should you finance it. What I mean is that you can buy top quality CZ bridal sets from places like Goldenmine or Emitations or other affordable online shops for $100 to $300 that if it were real would cost over $1,000. It’s believable that you might have financed a genuine diamond for about $1,000, even though you paid $100 in cash, while it will not be believable that you financed a 4 carat gemstone ring that costs $10,000.
2. Avoid large stone CZ eternity rings and massive celebrity inspired solitaires in styles that include yellow or pink faux diamonds or very rare or unusual stones that no one will believe you could afford. Stick with classic clear gems in weights under 1 carat, preferably clusters or small solitaires. And instead of selecting large stone CZ eternity rings as wedding bands, choose baguette cut eternity rings or smaller more discrete eternity bands with round bezel set stones.
So how do CZs and diamonds compare if you stick to these suggestions? Well, for the most part, classic designed gold and silver CZ ring creations will look very much like diamonds to the untrained eye. You can enjoy having sparkle for a lot less money and you need not tell the world that you have chosen cubic zirconia. However, the stones will not remain brilliant forever, most have a sparkling longevity of about 2 to 4 years depending on the use or abuse they receive. The plus is that if you have chosen a gold setting you can have the stones replaced or even upgrade to diamonds later on.
