Whether you run a successful salon, or are lucky enough to have a spray tan machine at home, there comes a time when you need to clean it. There are not cheap pieces of kit, and you really want to make sure that you keep it clean to keep it working well at all times.
The spray tan solution that is used in these machines is a potent chemical. That fact, combined with the regular use of the machine means that regular maintenance is a must. The question is what is the best way to clean it.
Many manufacturers will provide their own cleaning kits, but the reality is that most of these have similar agents to commercial available house cleaners. Obviously you need to check the labels carefully, but if you want to save some money you could try out some other cleaning products. Just like you do with yourself or a customer when testing out their skins reaction to the tanning product, you can try different cleaners in a small area of the machine to see how well they work.
The main thing is to concentrate on the key areas of the machines. You want the machine to be clean for your customers, but you also want it to work fully. Pay special attention to cleaning around the nozzles and any corners that can get a build up of the spray tanning solution. I would suggest that you give the machine a wipe down after each use, and schedule in an deep clean once a week or more depending on the frequency of use.
As long as you keep on top of the regular maintenance of the machine and make sure that you clean it well, you will be able to keep the machine in good condition and really maximize it’s potential.
