Traditionally, Lego sets were not made to be a military toy. They are a building toy that helps kids grow and expand their imagination. And as of this time, Lego has not yet created a full Lego set specifically dedicated to the military branches in existence. However, there are a few limited options to expand everyday Legos into army Legos.
Although Lego has not yet released full military sets, Lego has released several specialty sets that do include military figures. One example is the Toy Story Army Men on patrol set. This bright green set includes four accessorized army men. It also includes a jeep, and stretcher to complement and complete the set. This particular set was released to coincide with the Toy Story movie.
Another Lego option is to use the Star Wars Lego packs. Thanks to the popularity of the Lego Star Wars series of games and movies, there are several Star Wars sets that include clone troopers that can also double as military vehicles. These clone troopers as well as their aircraft and accessories can therefore easily be used to expand an army. Mixing and matching these miniature figures can also help provide some variety and realism.
Although both of the above sets may include Lego vehicles, many vehicles such as Lego army tanks can be designed and built by using assorted Lego pieces. Plans may be available online, depending on the specific vehicle. Lego does offer some sets for aircrafts, including a helicopter and fighter jet, under the Creator sub-brand.
There are also many sites online that sell assorted pieces that can be added to Legos to create an army set. Many sell everything from custom Lego figurines to the weapons needed to arm a full battalion. Adding helmets is the easiest way to take normal Lego men and add them to an army of defenders.
If willing to step outside of the Lego brand and premade models, there are many options in similar products that do come with pre-made military sets. Using the Lego brand to create army Legos does require more creativity, but isn’t that what Legos are all about?
