A Bed in a Bag for the Kids Bedroom

By the time a child has turned five or six, he or she has already begun to decide exactly how his bedroom should look.  Maybe they have not figured out the wall decor or the accessories, but kids certainly know what colors they like and what pattern they want for their comforters and sheets.  Whether they choose a cartoon theme such as Sponge Bob or Dora the Explorer or decide on a more mature nautical theme, they definitely have ideas about what they like.

This offers parents a wonderful teaching opportunity.  Just as parents teach their kids how to match their clothing by matching the animal patches on their pants and shirts, the opportunity to teach kids how to keep the bedroom clean and the bed made is made easy by selecting a bed in a bag for the basic bedroom decor.  Just as the young ones enjoy matching their clothes, they can learn to make their beds by enjoying opening the bag of bed linens and discovering how to use each piece.

Moms can take advantage of this learning opportunity by instructing the child that every piece in the bag has a special use and demonstrating how to use it.  Often children will straighten their bed sheets and not take the time to put the comforter on the bed.  Any piece that is not used when it is time to make the bed should go back in the bag.  It will not take long for the youngster to figure out that the comforter is missing from his bed, or the fitted sheet.  If the child climbs into a bed without the bottom sheet, he will surely notice it!

Bedding ensembles are among the best tools for teaching, especially if the entire set is purchased in a bag.  Kids will enjoy making a game of making up the bed and enjoy the praise from mom when they have successfully used all the pieces in the bag.
